As I pulled in the parking lot, I heard the rev of a motorcycle engine. I turned to see the groom parking in a spot wearing his infamous brown leather jacket. That jacket was mentioned a time or two during the day. The bride even wore it for some of her portraits. Their love story began at Brookshire’s register 7 right next door to the church they were to be married at later this day. Jay was quite the regular at register 7 and Ashton couldn’t help but fall in love with that boy in the leather jacket. Jay ended up proposing in front of Brookshire’s in the handicapped parking spot after work one day. After the proposal, they only had a few weeks together before he went to Marine boot camp. Their relationship became a long distance one and their wedding date changed several times before he was able to finally make his journey home. I am incredibly grateful I got to be the one to capture their magical day becoming man and wife.
Ashton was a glowing bride who incorporated many special details into her day. She kept a penny in her shoe and she even brought their Brookshire’s name tags. Jay wrote her a letter that she read after their “first touch.” They stood on a corner of the church where they couldn’t see each other before the wedding and held hands for a few moments. The pastor prayed over the wedding party. The grandparents and parents walked down the aisle. The moment had finally arrive. Jay and Ashton exchanged their handwritten vows and rings. They tied a cord to symbolize their relationship with the Lord at the center. After they exited the ceremony, we finished taking their portraits. They made the grand entrance to the reception and dances took place followed by a delicious dinner. Toasts were made. Cake was had. A bouquet and garter were tossed. The lovely couple ended the night with a sparkler exit.
Jay & Ashton, you both radiated with joy on your wedding day. It was my greatest honor to be the one to capture your love for one another. Thank you thank you for that privilege. I wish you both the best in all you do. Many prayers for your beautiful marriage! Love, Emilee
