Amber and Wesley // Prairie Creek in Pittsburg, TX

This lovely couple married on October 30th, 2021. Two days before their wedding, the wind was insane.  Fortunately, the wind died down and it turned out to be a beautiful day for getting married!

Their love story:

Amber and Wesley met through Wesley’s mom and CrossFit. Wesley is a drummer for a band in Austin called Harvest Thieves. He would come and visit his mom and that’s when she told him about the cute new vet in town who does CrossFit with her. She tried to introduce them 5 different times. Once they finally were able to meet, the rest became history. Wesley decided to propose at the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta, Georgia at Christmastime. The most impressive thing is that Wes managed to fiddle Amber’s grandmother’s sentimental ring off of her finger in order to propose to her.

The wedding day:

The couple decided to marry at the groom’s brother’s place also known as Prairie Creek. This venue is gorgeous and I enjoyed all the details the couple incorporated into their day. When I arrived, the guys were hanging out in their custom hats made by the groom’s friend. He also had a custom shirt made that he wore for his wedding. I loved how they wore bolo ties as well!

Amber was finishing up hair and make-up, looking radiant as ever. The bridesmaids had matching robes and cowboy boots. Both made for fun photos. Amber did a first look with her dad and pinned his boutonniere on him and he placed her mom’s pearl necklace around her neck. It truly was a beautiful moment! Wesley’s mom pinned the guys’ boutonnieres on and she was able to savor some sweet memories with her son before his wedding.

Portraits were made and guests began arriving. Everyone walked through the barn as they made their way to the ceremony site. The sun shined brightly as the couple said their vows. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour as the couple finished up their portraits. With music being such a key part of the groom’s life, it is no surprise that the music played at both the ceremony and reception was perfection. So much fun!

The couple shared a first dance followed by the mother/son and father/daughter dances. Right before they cut the cake, the bride mentions to me that all the flowers on the cake are entirely made of sugar. Um, WHAT?! They were incredible and intricate. Specifically, the lovely red stargazer lily on the top of the cake was in memory of the bride’s mom. They were her favorite flower.  Cake was enjoyed and guests began dancing the night away. Guests tossed dried flower confetti as the newly married couple exited. It smelled heavenly!

A word of thanks:

Amber + Wesley, thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding day! It was truly an honor and the love you share for one another is a beautiful thing! It was evident your guests had a wonderful time. The thought and care y’all put into all the details made for a truly special day as well! Wishing you both all the best, Emilee
