The smell of corn dogs and funnel cakes fill the air. Can you hear the bluegrass music playing on the square? Carnival workers beckoning you to try your luck at a game or two. The carousel whirring around and around. The 3rd week of October brings a sort of magic to Gilmer, TX. There’s a queen and the most beautiful floats you have ever seen. I did not grow up in Gilmer. I moved here in the 4th grade, but I have grown to love the Yamboree and everything it entails. What do you love about the Yamboree?
